COMMISSIONED ARTWORKS

A client discovered my work on social media and commissioned a portrait of retired NRL player Johnathan Thurston in a Redcliffe Dolphins jersey. Since Thurston never wore the jersey, I edited a reference image before sketching and projecting the design onto a 914mm by 1219mm canvas.

The piece reflects values like humility, leadership, and loyalty. It features my abstract style with organic shapes, a limited colour palette, hand mixed acrylics, and spray paint for added texture. Typography was included at the client’s request, inspired by a past mural. Completed over six months, the work blends portraiture and text in a bold, personal way.

This commissioned painting was created for a local Gold Coast client who wanted a portrait of an iconic NRL player to display in their gym room as motivation. The brief allowed creative freedom to capture the player in action while expressing team colours and personality. Painted on an 18cm by 24cm canvas using hand mixed acrylics and spray paint in red, black, and green, the piece features a limited palette of 24 colours and my signature abstract style with organic shapes. A clear varnish was applied for preservation, and the use of fast drying materials allowed for efficient production and easy adjustments.

Alongside my painting work, I designed a publication centred on bold typography and layout. Using only red, the book focused on strong type choices, structured grids, and changing page layouts to support each article. Serif fonts ensured readability, while display typefaces varied per chapter for impact. Content was broken up with pull quotes and graphics to maintain clarity and flow. Both the artwork and publication reflect a consistent design approach grounded in clarity, visual impact, and adaptability.

I designed a typography mural for the Queensland College of Art aimed at raising mental health awareness and bringing calmness to students. The installation features the quote "There is no creativity and innovation without failure" to encourage acceptance of failure as part of success. Using a colour palette of blue for calm and gold for success, along with organic shapes representing mountains and nature, the mural creates a peaceful atmosphere to help reduce student stress and invite personal reflection.

The project involved thorough research into mental health triggers on campus and visual strategies to address them. Multiple concepts were developed, but time and maintenance considerations led to focusing on one interactive element. The mural successfully combines typography with meaningful visuals to engage students and support their wellbeing in a creative space.
